Dr. Ibrahim Salama

Salama.jpgDr. Ibrahim Salama (1959) studied law at the University of Cairo, obtained a diploma in International Political Relations from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris, a Post-Graduate Specialized Studies (DESS) in International Organizations and a PhD in Public Law from the University Paris XI.

In 1981, he joined the Egyptian Foreign Service. After numerous postings in Paris, New Delhi and Geneva, he became Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Lisbon in 2003. In August 2007, he joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva where he is currently carrying out the functions of Chief of the Human Rights Treaties Branch.

From 2003 to August 2007, Mr. Salama has assumed the functions of Chairperson of the United Nations Working Group on the Right to Development and was a Member of the United Nations Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. Mr. Salama is the author of many publications and papers on various human rights issues.
